Srinagar, Apr 20 (KNO): After missing several deadlines, the building of Bone and Joint hospital in Jammu is about to get completed with some services being started at the hospital in May. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the 300 bed B&J hospital Jammu was sanctioned under PMDP in 2018 and work was allotted to R&B Department for Rs 38 crore. A top health official while talking to KNO said that a G+3 storey hospital building was to be completed in two phases within a period of 24 months and its first deadline was March 2021. But due to Covid, the hospital missed the first deadline. He added that it was given another deadline that the hospital must be completed by March 2022 but it missed the second deadline as well. Accordingly, March 2023 was fixed as the final deadline and the hospital is now near completion, he said. “Final touch is being given to the works at the hospital and few services like OPD, physiotherapy and electro surgical services will be started at the hospital in May,” he said. He said joint replacement and spine surgeries will be routine at the hospital and patients will no longer need to go outside J&K for such treatments. In a phased manner, the facilities at the hospital will be enhanced so that patients can get all facilities in their locality, he said, adding that the Hospital will be state of the art hospital equipped with the latest machines and modular OTs. "Bone and Joint Hospital was a long pending demand of Jammu province and after its completion the patients of whole Jammu province as well as the neighbouring States of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh shall be benefited and patients of Jammu province will no longer have to go to outside the State for specialized orthopaedic treatment,” he said. The proposal for creation of posts of all cadres for the Bone & Joint Hospital has already been submitted to the Administrative Department, he said—(KNO)
